custom made cabinet with white oak cutting board, ADA accessible

Client Request:

Client request to remove existing cabinet and replace with wheelchair accessible workstation so her disabled veteran husband could make his own lunch.

The Design:

I designed the cabinet with pocket door slide hinges so the doors would tuck in out of the way. This allowed him to pull all the way up to the cutting board prep area. I also added a small half cabinet with drawers under the main cabinet for washcloths and towels.

After I completed the install, client pulled up to the cabinet, took out the fixings to make his own lunch. Not a dry eye in the room.

Over the years, I have built several pieces of furniture for handicap use, but this one was extra special.

Materials Used:

Wood
