Comments and Form Submissions

When visitors leave comments or complete and submit any form, survey or poll on the site, we collect the data shown in the form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

We use Akismet spam detection as well as Cloudflare Turnstile services to assist in spam detection. You can view Turnstile information at https://www.cloudflare.com/products/turnstile/, Cloudflare’s privacy policy at https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/, and Akismet information at https://akismet.com/privacy/.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Analytics

We collect data on site visits, page views and other generalized, anonymous data, to improve our website content, ensure our design works as expected on a range of devices, screen sizes and browsers and to understand what content our clients and visitors find the most useful.

We use Fathom Analytics to have the general data that helps us improve our online offerings while protecting the privacy of our visitors.

You can learn more about Fathom Analytics and their privacy-first analytics policy at https://usefathom.com/privacy.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Who we share your data with

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.

Contact forms or other surveys or polls submitted are sent directly to the person indicated in form contact info and may be shared, with the team, department or backup personnel within our business, in order to respond to your request.

Because of the immense variety of email services, individual operating systems, browsers used by many in the carrying out of their work and duties, as well as your own email services, and security practices, we highly encourage all visitors who submit comments or use our forms, to not include any more information than necessary to complete their request and to avoid sending any images, information that might compromise their safety during cyber transmission of missives sent.

We strive to collect the minimum amount of data from you in order to facilitate your request. IF you do not agree with any portion of our privacy policy, please do not use our online forms to request information; rather use our other options for contacting us.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where your data is sent

Visitor comments and/or form submissions are checked through an automated spam detection service. See Comments and Forms above for specific information.
